The Palace declared Monday, 25 July 2005, as a special non-working day as contained in Proclamation 880.
The 13th Congress is opening its Second Regular Session on Monday, and at the same time, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be delivering her first State of the Nation Address (SONA) as a duly-elected president (duh!).
Among the reasons Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita cited for the declaration is to allow Filipinos "to listen to the address of the President [Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo] and be involved in the affairs of the country."
Some politicians have suggested that President Macapagal-Arroyo take this opportunity to resign.
You should resign, Gloria. Your glory days are over.
